Free Retakes, Real Support
This new initiative is removing barriers and helping aspiring educators stay on track toward licensure. Free After 3 offers free retakes to eligible candidates—removing financial barriers and reinforcing the value of persistence in the educator journey.
Free After 3 is designed to give your candidates a safety net: after three attempts on the same Praxis test, they gain access to free retakes for five years. This ensures dedicated candidates don’t give up—and your program doesn’t lose future educators to financial obstacles.
This isn’t just a discount. It’s a message to future educators: We see your effort. We believe in your potential. We’re here to support you.
Why it Matters
Every candidate’s path to becoming a licensed educator is different—but one thing remains true: persistence should be supported. Free After 3 helps ensure that candidates who are committed to their goals can keep moving forward, even if it takes more than one try.
By removing cost-related barriers after a third attempt, this initiative encourages candidates to stay engaged, build momentum, and continue progressing toward the classroom. It’s a recognition of their effort and a reinforcement of their potential.
By reducing financial stress, Free After 3 allows preparation programs and state partners to focus on what matters most—supporting candidate growth and maintaining strong pipelines of licensed teachers.
How It Works
Free After 3 is designed to make the retake process simple and transparent for both programs and candidates:
- Eligibility: Candidates become eligible after taking the same Praxis test three times. Attempts must occur on or after October 1, 2025.
- Voucher Access: Once eligible, candidates will receive an email with instructions to submit a request form. Approved requests receive a free retake voucher.
- Voucher Details: Each voucher is valid for six months and tied to a specific Praxis test title.
- Unlimited Retakes: After the third attempt, candidates may request and use vouchers for unlimited retakes of the same test within a five-year window from the date of of the date your third attempt’s scores were reported.
- Test Coverage: Applies to any Praxis test titles that have been attempted three times, including combined exams. (Note: Not eligible to be used with Praxis Bridge offers.)
For full eligibility details and instructions, visit the Free After 3 informational page.
Availability
Free After 3 is available in most Praxis states. Candidates should check their state requirements page to confirm eligibility and retest policies.
