- Alignment to Today’s Standards: The redesigned tests align with the latest standards from organizations including the International Literacy Association (ILA), National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS), Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), National Science Teaching Association (NSTA), and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
- Grounded in Modern Instructional Practices: They incorporate principles from the Science of Reading, Social Studies Inquiry Skills, and Science and Engineering Practices—ensuring candidates are well‑prepared for today’s classrooms.
- Built for Flexibility: The tests introduce new testing flexibility through Praxis Steps, allowing the assessment experience to align more closely with the learning journey.

Praxis Steps Modular Testing (Launching Summer 2026)
Praxis Steps is a new modular testing approach that allows candidates to progress at their own pace, retake only what’s needed, and use insights for continued improvement and readiness. Praxis Steps offers:

- Candidates can take the full test all at once or complete smaller "Steps" that align with coursework, pacing their testing experience in a way that supports confidence and content mastery.
Targeted Retakes
- Instead of retaking the entire test, candidates can retake just the Step they did not pass—saving time, reducing cost, and lowering stress.
Actionable Data for States & EPPs
- Step level performance data gives deeper insight into candidate strengths and gaps, enabling targeted support earlier in the preparation pipeline.
Early Adoption Pricing Breakdown (Through May 31, 2026)
For a limited window, full Praxis Elementary Education Fundamentals tests are discounted by 75%, reducing the cost from $79 to $19.75 per test—a savings of $59.25 per test.
