Pilot Results are in: Unlocking Potential Through Praxis Bridge
This article explores the impact of the Praxis Bridge pilot across multiple states, revealing how its targeted approach accelerates teacher certification while maintaining high standards—reducing costs, stress, and time for candidates.
Understanding Praxis Bridge
Praxis Bridge is an alternate passing option for teacher candidates who narrowly missed the passing score on their Praxis exams. Instead of retaking the full test, eligible candidates can complete a targeted learning module that focuses on their specific areas of need. This approach not only accelerates their path to certification but also ensures they understand essential content knowledge.
Collaborative Success: States That Lead the Way
The pilot program, conducted in partnership with Connecticut, West Virginia, and Kansas, demonstrates the power of collaborative program development. "The partnership between Praxis and our state education leaders has been invaluable in shaping Praxis Bridge," notes Vince Dean, General Manager at ETS. "By incorporating direct feedback from state stakeholders, we've created a program that truly serves the needs of both education agencies and teacher candidates."
Turning Opportunity into Success: The Power of Praxis Bridge
The Praxis Bridge pilot uncovered two key insights that demonstrate the program’s value and effectiveness in supporting teacher candidates:
12% Qualified—An Untapped Opportunity
The pilot uncovered that 12% of candidates qualified for Praxis Bridge, representing a crucial opportunity to support individuals who are just shy of passing their Praxis test.
89% Completed in 90 Days—Proof of Efficiency
While candidates have up to 6 months to complete the Praxis Bridge module, the pilot showed that 89% didn’t need nearly that long. Instead, they seized the opportunity to finish within the 90-day pilot period to accelerate their journey to the classroom.
Candidate Feedback: Confidence, Clarity, and Success
While numbers tell part of the story, participant feedback reveals the deeper impact:
- Enhanced Concept Understanding: 87% agreed that the structured learning activities deepened their grasp of key concepts.
- Effective Preparation: 96% felt the practice questions adequately prepared them for the final knowledge check.
- User-Friendly Experience: 89% found the platform easy to navigate, enhancing their learning experience.
- Stronger Preference Over Full Exam Retakes: 93% preferred this targeted approach to retaking the entire Praxis exam.

Looking Ahead
The Praxis Bridge pilot highlights a powerful opportunity to strengthen the educator pipeline by supporting near-pass candidates and accelerating their path to the classroom. With 12% of candidates qualifying and 89% completing the module in just 90 days, the program proves its potential to reduce barriers, cut costs, and get qualified teachers into classrooms faster.
