The Elementary Education: Science Subtest is designed to assess whether an examinee has the broad knowledge and competencies necessary to be licensed as a beginning teacher at the elementary school level. The 50 selected-response questions are based on the material typically covered in a bachelor’s degree program in elementary education.

The subtest incorporates the content topics in the National Science Education Standards (NSES), the National Science Teacher Association (NSTA) standards, and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).

This subtest may contain some questions that will not count toward your score.

You are expected to become familiar with the functionality of the calculator before taking the test. Take time to access the calculator and practice with it so that you are comfortable using the calculator on the test. For many questions, there is more than one way to solve the problem. Don’t use the calculator if you don’t need to; you may waste time.
