The purpose of the Pennsylvania Grades 4–8 Subject Concentration: Social Studies test is to assess whether the entry-level middle school teacher has the content knowledge that is important, necessary, and needed at time of entry to the profession in order to teach social studies. The test is aligned to the Pennsylvania Academic Standards for Social Studies and the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) National Standards for Social Studies Teachers.

It measures examinees’ skills and knowledge relevant to the areas of United States History, World History, Government/Political Science, Economics, and Geography. This test may contain some questions that will not count toward your score.
