Overview of New York Testing Requirements
- ETS discontinued paper-delivered testing; however Praxis tests will continue to be available in a paper-delivered format as required for ADA accommodations. All scores for previously administered paper-delivered tests are reportable for 10 years from the date the test a taken.
- New York requires a Social Security number (SSN) in order to process educator certification paperwork. ETS does not require your SSN for its own purposes, but will submit it to New York with your test results. Failure to provide your SSN may delay processing of your certification application. If you do not have a Social Security number (SSN), please use your TEACH Access Number (TAN) issued by the Office of Teaching Initiatives.
- If you test in New York at a test center or at home and your Praxis profile address is in New York, your score report will be sent automatically to the New York State Education Department (NYSED). However, please note that the score may not be accepted unless your corect Social Security number appears on the score report.
- If you test outside New York or your Praxis profile address is not in New York, your scores are NOT automatically sent to NYSED. To have your scores sent to NYSED, you must select the New York State Education Department (state code 7737) as a score recipient whenyou register.
- For all methods of Praxis testing, to request additional score reports you must select the New York State Education Department (state code 7737) with each additional score report request.
