Overview of Minnesota Testing Requirements
- As of September 1, 2010, the state of Minnesota requires candidates for educator certification to take the Minnesota Teacher Licensure Examinations (MTLE).
- If you are a new candidate for educator certification, please review the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board website for further information.
- Candidates cannot take the Praxis tests for Minnesota licensure, and passing scores for tests taken prior to that date are no longer accepted.
- As of January 1, 2016, only MTLE scores are accepted.
- As of August 12, 2016, Minnesota began accepting the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) tests for candidates trained outside of Minnesota that wish to meet the Minnesota Basic Skills Requirement.
- Please review the qualifying score requirements for the Core tests.
